“Shringiree is behind the corn stack. Zaibar will not leave until it is finished. (Not that she is actually doing that much….a bit of a moody teenager me thinks.)

This morning our family are sorting (nekoorik) the corn and I intend going on to cut some more after this.

They use a small hand scythe (tooleh) to cut whole fields. It seems they rarely, if ever, sharpen it making it very hard work!!

The rain has stopped so I presume they are in a hurry to get it all in.

The women look amazing when they ‘sort’ the corn from the stalks. All headdresses and black, plumped down, like some fancy chickens, among the yellow corn.”
